Fears…

I don’t know about you, but my fears at times make me act very irrational. Some of my fears are tame… normal… others… well…

My main fears are:

1.) Fear of Spiders… you know those black hairy ones… the ones that hop towards you when you go to kill them… Ick… {{Shudder}} I usually sick my cat on them. He will play with them, letting them think they might escape, then he eats them only to throw them back up a few minutes later. Hee hee…. I know I’m twisted…lol

2.) Vomiting… This is one of those fears that makes me act very irrational. I know there is nothing that anyone can do about this… It is part of being human. But man when someone pukes… I run not walk in the other direction. The smell… the fear of catching it. When I know that the stomach flu is going around I wash mine and the kid’s hands in alcohol whenever we enter the house. I always feel guilty because of the way I act with this fear… I know I should be sympathetic… the good mom… wanting to take care of the sick kids… the sick adult etc… I just can’t. I always freak.

3.) STD’s this is another one of those fears that I have difficulty with. This one…my body and drive most times want to forget about. I HATE condoms I have been in a serious relationship for a long time so there was no need for them. But now… Anyway… I know I will be tempted to not use one in the heat of it, but I also know that I will panic and freak out afterwards if I don’t. Even with tests… I’m still paranoid about this.

4.) Fear of man made heights over 20 floors. This fear is a strange one for me because I have no problem with bridges… I have no problem with looking off cliffs. It is just MAN MADE structures like downtown towers that I have difficulty with. I have had this fear since before 9/11 so that did not cause it. I just don’t know what it is…

5.) Choking… I think this fear goes back to the fear of vomiting thing. Anything that makes me gag makes me squick. Some times it is a texture… custard I can not do. Other times a flavor… it is not so much the cutting off of air, but the gag that comes with the choke that bothers me.

6.) Fear of losing my kids. Because I have recently gone through separation, I have an irrational fear of losing my kids. When I’m not with them, I think about them constantly. I even stop by the house so that I can see them on the days I’m not supposed to be with them.

What are your fears?
Lacy.

I have this very irrational fear whenever someone I care for is driving on a long trip and I haven’t heard from them. If they don’t call me around the time I expect they should arrive at their destination, I immediately start fearing the worst. I know…totally irrational.

I’m with you on most except throwing up. I’ve dealt with it so much I am immune.

There was this HUGE spider outside. Silver Dollar huge, and I smashed it to smithereens. The thing exploded and sent it’s baby spiders all over. It was completely disgusting.

Most of my fears are about my kids – having them be sick and not able to help them.

I don’t mind spiders so much though and I hate vomit, hate it, but I wouldn’t say it was a fear.

I fear getting older and losing vital things like mobility and my hearing and other senses and I have a totally bizarre fear about my wrists and fingers now that I type so much.

As for spiders, well I love bugs! In my Nevada house, I’ll let most spiders stay inside (accept scorpions, sun spiders or anything that is really harmful). If I don’t want them inside for some reason, I’ll escort them out in a jar. I know, I’m wierd that way. Oh, and I talk to them too. If I see a bug I don’t recognize, I look it up to find out more about it and if it’s a danger to me or my dog.

I’m TOTALLY with you on throwing up. Seeing it or smelling it makes me ill. I am rather proud of my amazing will power though, as I haven’t thrown up since I was 15. I’m goin’ for a record.

I’m afraid of the dark, but working to get over that.

I don’t much like deep water that I can’t see the bottom of as well.
