Today I had a scare.

The day was supposed to be relaxing. I had a hair appointment scheduled, spent the morning having wonderful crapes made by my dearest friend Shelli, then with my kids so their father could work.
I‘m getting ready to go to my hair apt and my daughter falls off the stool in the kitchen. She lands HARD on her right side and cries for about 10min. She ended up burying her head against my chest and falling asleep. It was her naptime, my guess is that is why she fell. However, I was a bit freaked. I did love holding her comforting her though.

My X comes home and I head off to my hair apt. All goes well there and I look refreshed and invigorated for the rest of the night.

I call my X as I’m leaving the salon and ask how my daughter is.
He says, “she is fine but I have another problem…”
My heart sank at the tone he used. I could tell he was scared and panicked. I said, “What… what is up.”
He said, “Our son cut his finger and I think he needs stitches. It is bleeding all over the place and I just can’t get it to stop.”
I freaked!
And started asking 100’s questions… Where are you? How did he cut himself? etc etc…
He said, “I’m downtown at work and we are headed back to the house”
I said “okay I will meet you there.”

I remembered a friend of mine telling me something similar happened to her son. She told me they waited in Emergency for 4 hours and when they finally saw someone, they cleaned it and then put liquid band-aid on it. So I stopped at the pharmacy on the way to the house and bought some liquid band-aid. When I got to my husbands house everyone was okay. No crying or anything except my son threw himself at me when I walked in the door.

Anyway to make a long story short the liquid band-aid worked. It was a semi deep cut but not horrid. It did bleed a lot but the stuff did work it sealed it up. If you are a parent and don’t have this in your first aid kit get it! My son of course still wanted the blues clues band-aid put on over it. 🙂

At the moment I feel so drained. The kids are at their Dads this night and all I wanted to do was stay there and do the mom thing, babying my babies. Nevertheless, I knew I needed to leave. I arrived home took a hot bath and now I’m eating popcorn and drinking a glass of red wine. Hope your day was better than mine.

Crepes 🙂 That’s so scary about the kids! I’m glad they’re both okay though. And I can’t wait to see your hair? Whatdidya do?

Glad both of your kids are okay. That is sooo scary. My girls are 9 and 7 and as of yet…knock on wood…I haven’t had to take any one to the emergency room for an injury.
